My mother engaged Fritz Janeba to design the family homes. The big stone house still stands, but the copper pump action toilet pan has gone. The design features included a butterfly roof and extensive stone walls. Fritz brought the Bauhaus to Warrandyte. My association continued with Fritz, a decade or so later, as my design lecturer in my first year at the School of Architecture, Melbourne University.
